Bend, Oregon --demonstrating gait on a green broke horse and shoeing

Demo--fox trot barefoot
with no bridle--the gait is
not in the bit or the shoes. Trust is mutual

I do not advocate trick riding, though years ago I was a professional
stunt man.
I was somewhat amazed that I can still do some stunts at 64, but would
not
do this with a horse that I did not totally trust. Stunts are not necessary
or
recommended to prove mutual trust between horse and rider and should
be left
to those who wish to entertain professionally. More practical, safe,
and beneficial methods
of building and demonstrating the trust which come from bonding are
considered better
teaching aids in the Hosslogic program which stresses safety for horse
and rider first.

Below: Working with colts--Bob has imprinted horses in the modern sense
of the word
long before it was known as imprinting and teaches his students how
to do so.
From the time they are born the babies are handled and taught lessons
important
later in life. He relaxes the colt first and moves only at the speed
the colt shows
that he can accept comfortably. At last he reaches the head and assures
the colt,
moving to the top he accustoms the colt to feeling the touch of a hand
on the top
of his head and finally the colt is willing to accept the hat just
as willingly. This lesson
will be used later for training in other situations.

Teaching children to ride

Before--just starting
After--riding without lead rope--You can see
the confidence.
We have lots of photos, but to save space we chose photos which convey
some of
the different aspects of the clinics. Some states with clinics or seminars
which were
not photographed--OK, TX, KY, CA, and PA. Countries where clinics were
conducted
in the late 1950's and early 60's-- England and Australia.
